Furniture Design Summer Course at Florence Institute of Design International
The Furniture Design Summer Course at Florence Institute of Design International introduces students to furniture design, through lectures, hands-on workshops and industry insights.
This four-week short course introduces students to the furniture design process, from initial concept development through to the production of reduced scale prototypes.
Combining practical skills with theoretical insight, the programme explores materials, construction techniques, and detailing, alongside a broader study of Italian and international furniture history and design theory.
Taught entirely in English, the course is structured to provide both technical grounding and contextual understanding.
Through a series of lectures, hands-on workshops, and two furniture factory visits to premier Italian brands, participants examine key movements, designers, and production methods, while gaining direct insight into high-level manufacturing processes and developing their own design proposals.
The programme is tailored for those with a strong interest in Italian furniture design, as well as interior and industrial design more broadly.
It is accessible to students at all levels, from beginners to those with prior experience, and is equally suited to individuals seeking to expand their knowledge without committing to a full degree programme.
