EDIT by designjunction in Milan

Dezeen promotion: there is still chance to exhibit at EDIT by designjunction, which will take place from 8 to 14 April during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan.

Established at London Design Festival, designjunction will bring a curated selection of brands, workshops, installations and pop-up shops to Milan. Thirty international brands will exhibit at the La Pelota venue, Via Palermo 20121, in the Brera design district of Milan.

Dezeen are media partners with designjunction and details of our involvement will follow soon. Find out more about the event on the designjunction website. London member's club Apartment 58 will be recreated as a pop-up VIP lounge, plus coffee and ice cream will be provided in the courtyard of the venue by Italian brand La Marzocco.

EDIT has a few exhibitor spaces left, so click here if you are interested in participating.

The event will be an edited version of last year's showcase at London Design Festival, which featured fabric lamps and curled chairs by Benjamin Hubert, plus vases made from assorted materials.

Above images show the venue in Milan and designs for the VIP lounge, and photos below were taken during designjunction at London Design Festival 2012.

designjunction presents: EDIT
8–14 April 2013/ Salone Internazionale del Mobile

EDIT by designjunction at La Pelota |10 Via Palermo | Milan

Having firmly established itself as the largest destination for contemporary interior design and culture at the London Design Festival, the critically acclaimed designjunction is set to transport an edited version of the show to Milan for the world’s largest furniture fair.

EDIT by designjunction will be a carefully curated show, featuring a powerful mix of international brands with a focus on high-quality authentic design. Leading global enterprises are set to launch new product lines alongside smaller cutting-edge labels, installations, pop-up shops and eateries, combining creativity, culture and design in one central location.

The exhibition will be set within the striking La Pelota venue, a renowned space which over the years has staged some of the most creative and inspiring events in Italy. Spread across the entire venue, the historic former sports arena, with its imposing high ceilings, will provide a spectacular backdrop for exhibitors to present their work. Positioned in the heart of the Brera design district, La Pelota is the perfect location to continue designjunction’s growing reputation for presenting world-class design in an urban, industrial environment.

Deborah Spencer, designjunction’s event director said “Milan is the most important meeting place for global design, attracting 300,000 visitors to the city each year. Taking the event to Milan positions designjunction at the heart of the design industry and on an international platform”

EDIT by designjunction is set to be a major destination presenting over 30 brands in one central location next to all the major showrooms, galleries and event spaces in central Milan.

The visual concept will be overseen by Michael Sodeau the creative director for the show. Michael said: “We want to create an impact. This year we will be working with Sefar to create a visually striking display using large sheets of woven aluminium material hung from a great height and layered to create a sense of depth across the space. This lightweight material will act as a visual divider between the stand spaces, while at the same time creating something incredibly eye-catching.”

designjunction will collaborate with Apartment 58 to recreate their private members club in London, which opens this month. Apartment 58’s pop-up VIP lounge, which will be fully furnished by leading British manufacturer Modus, will be a place to socialise, relax or work within a comfortable domestic setting. Modus will provide new, bespoke and existing products from their range to recreate a home-from-home environment. The interior, designed by Michael Sodeau will combine contemporary furniture pieces with mid-century design classics and limited edition works of art. The VIP lounge will also house a dedicated media centre.

In the courtyard area La Marzocco, the leading Italian espresso machine maker, will be bringing their expert coffee and ice-cream parlour to the show. La Marzocco, who have earned a worldwide reputation for making beautiful crafted and uniquely designed espresso machines, will be demonstrating the finest artisan coffee Italy has to offer. A curated exhibition of leading rug companies will also be presented in the outdoor courtyard and housed within a purpose-built architectural structure.
