Here's some more information from the organisers:

The 12th DMY International Design Festival Will Be Presenting More Than 500 Designers at the Airport Berlin Tempelhof

In the 12th year of its existence, the DMY International Design Festival once again lives up to its standing as figurehead for the creative city of Berlin and German design in general. More than 150 international exhibitors and 500 designers are offered a presentation platform at the festival and the visitors have the unique opportunity to discover and enjoy experimental and established design from all over the planet. Exhibiting nations are Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, France, Finland, Poland, Sweden, South Korea, China, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and more.

For the second time, the festival is the central event of the Berlin Design Week (May 26 – June 1, 2014) which will feature events and exhibitions throughout the city. An exciting cross section of design, research and material sciences by leading universities, designers, renowned studios, and young talents from around the world will then meet upon the vibrant Berlin design scene, over the years becoming increasingly international in its own right.

The 12th DMY International Design Festival will see the launch of the DMY Market and the presentation of a new thematic section with a focus on Social Design.

A Focus On Social Design

A new thematic undersection of the festival will be presenting social design projects and works in 2014 and the following editions. For the first time, social design works and projects will be presented at the festival. In the social design context, mankind forms the initial point of origin. Issues such as sustainability, progress, and basic human needs are seen in the context of environment and living conditions. As these projects often address a new, not yet clearly defined target group, providing only little obvious commercial attractiveness, possible marketing and communication strategies are to be discussed in open talks and symposia.

ROJO // RED

The ROJO – roadshow will present Spanish design icons in an extraordinary set-up: all the objects on show were produced in the colour red especially for this exhibition. The exceptional exhibition architecture of ROJO was created by the studio Arquitectura-G. Being recently on show at the Stockholm Light Fair 2014, ROJO now comes to Berlin to the DMY International Design Festival. RED (Reunión Empresas de Diseño) is the Spanish association for premium brands specializing on top-class furniture design and interior decoration. The show will present design classics in a contemporary makeover alongside the works of younger designers – created and produced in Spain.

DMY Market

The new DMY Market section will offer the visitors the opportunity to purchase some of the unique and single copy design objects on site. For the designers this is a welcome chance to get a first-hand reflection and feedback on their works.

DMY Awards

The best works in the categories Exhibitor, New Talent and Education will be selected by the top-class jury and receive the DMY Awards. The DMY Awards 2014 are produced by Berlin Glas e.V. and designed by Philipp Weber who was awarded himself in 2013.

Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany

For the third year in succession, DMY Berlin is hosting the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. The award is generally considered the most important design award in Germany in the fields of communication and product design. Since 1969, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (formerly Ministry of Economics and Technology) has awarded this prize every year for the most outstanding products and works in product and communication design. Criteria such as innovation, haptics, sustainability aspects, usability, constitutive criteria and an overall coherence form the basis of the selection of the winners. The aim of the award is to boost the importance of design in business enterprises. All the submitted works are presented to the public and the nominees for the award will be announced during the festival. The award show will take place on September 12th in Berlin.

Regional focus

In a separate subexhibition on the festival grounds, a German federal state or region will present the best works of their designers. German design is globally considered to be of top-quality; the regional focus is supposed to highlight the diversity of German design. The first region to present itself is Brandenburg, Berlin's neighbour.

New Talents – supported by the IKEA Foundation

In this section, students and young talents will present their works, prototypes and conceptual design approaches. This part of the festival offers the young designers the unique opportunity to gather precious experiences, thus supporting and enforcing the market launch of their products.

DMY Universities and Schools

In the Universities and Schools section of the festival, research work and projects are exhibited, often with a very innovative and experimental character as they do not have to comply with the normal rules of the market.
