A pair of combined wall mirrors and dressing tables by Berlin designer Florian Schmid have gone into production with German furniture brand Zeitraum (+ slideshow).
Florian Schmid's dressing tables comprise a wall mirror with a two-legged table leaning against and partially overlapping it.
"Due to its reflection in the mirror, the shelf seems visually larger than it actually is and even seems to stand on three legs," Schmid said.
Put into production by Zeitraum and exhibited at Milan design week in April, the collection includes two options.
Carla features a circular mirror, while Carlo has a portrait rectangular mirror. Both are divided by a horizontal wooden board, designed for displaying small items.
"The full height of the mirror is retained on the outside, thus offering an unobstructed view," said Schmid. "On the inside, the narrow shelf space provides room for accessories, jewellery and the like."
The mirror can be positioned on either side and the wood is available in oak or American walnut, finished with natural oils and waxes or an optional stain.
Their narrow proportions mean that the tables can be used in bedrooms or dressing rooms, but are also suitable for corridors, bathrooms and hotel rooms, where space is at a premium.
A cable guide is hidden behind the shelf for a smart phone or a hairdryer.
Schmid, who was previously based in London, debuted the products as part of the [D3] Contest for young designers at imm cologne in 2013.
