Competition: five Make:Shift innovation conference tickets to be won

Competition: Dezeen has teamed up with the UK's Crafts Council to give away five tickets to its first Make:Shift innovation conference in London later this month.

Congratulations to the winners! Laura Koziol and Sorcha O'Brien in the UK, Maja Daskalovska in Macedonia, Marianne Alibert in France and Ismini Christakopoulou in Austria.

Taking place from 20 to 21 November at Ravensbourne college, east London, Make:Shift will present a programme of panel discussions and participatory sessions focussed how advances in materials, processes and technologies are driving new developments in craft practice.

The conference will also consider how makers are contributing to innovation in other sectors, including science, engineering and technology.

Attendees will also get to see a series of talks with speakers including an expert on robotics in architecture, an inventor of colour-changing fabrics and a surgeon that specialises in clinical simulation.

Make:Shift will be centred on three key themes: Materials, Making and Tools. Confirmed speakers include: Lauren BowkerLizete DrukaGregory EppsMark ChampkinsRoger KneeboneKnyttan, Julia LohmannMark Miodownik and Gareth Neal.

Arum by Zaha Hadid, with material and fabrication Technology by Gregory Epps, RoboFold

Introduced by keynote speakers Martina Margetts, a tutor at the Royal College of Art, and architect Ammar Mirjan, the conference will explore current and future thinking on the role of craft in 21st century production.

Make:Shift conference

A surgeon, an expert on robotics in architecture and an inventor of colour-changing fabrics are among the world-leading makers, thinkers and innovators confirmed for the Crafts Council's first Make:Shift conference this November.

Taking place at Ravensbourne College in London from 20 to 21 November 2014, Make:Shift will explore current and future thinking on the role of craft in 21st century production.

Introduced by keynote speakers Martina Margetts and Ammar Mirjan, the conference will be centered on three key themes: Materials, Making and Tools.

Other confirmed speakers include: Lauren Bowker, Lizete Druka, Gregory Epps, Mark Champkins, Prof. Roger Kneebone, Knyttan, Dr Julia Lohmann, Mark Miodownik and Gareth Neal.

Comprising panel discussions, presentations and participatory sessions, Make:Shift will look at how advances in materials, processes and technologies are driving new developments in craft practice. It will also consider how these same makers are contributing to innovation in other sectors, including science, engineering, technology, manufacturing and medicine.

Make:Shift:Do

Make:Shift:Do, an accompanying public programme, will run from 21 to 22 November in partnership with the V&A, RSA and Institute of Making. During the weekend, maker spaces across the UK will open their doors to people who wish to try their hand at new forms of craft, from laser-cutting to 3D-printing.
