Competition: five tickets to What Design Can Do to be won

Competition: Dezeen has teamed up with What Design Can Do to offer readers the chance to win one of five tickets to the annual design conference in Amsterdam.

What Design Can Do was founded by a group of Dutch designers in 2011, to offer designers a platform to discuss work that tackles critical challenges facing society.

"By showcasing best practices and visions, raising discussions and facilitating collaboration between disciplines, What Design Can Do wants to raise awareness among the public for the potential of creativity," explained the founders in a statement. "At the same time, What Design Can Do calls on designers to take responsibility and consider how their work can impact the wider society."

The annual What Design Can Do event takes place over two days and includes a wide range of speakers from various disciplines. Previous speakers have included MoMA curator Paola Antonelli, Pentagram partner Michael Bierut, fashion designer Paul Smith, trend analyst Li Edelkoort, designer Hella Jongerius and futurist Daisy Ginsberg.

The 2015 conference will run from 21 to 22 May at the Stadsschouwburg – a theatre dating from the 1890s – in the Dutch capital.

Among this year's speakers are graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister, architect Ole Scheeren, and the Campana Brothers, whose recent works have included a furniture collection covered in doormats and a cabinet made from the skin of the world's largest freshwater fish.

Also talking at the event are Cameron Sinclair, founder of Architecture for Humanity, Norwegian smell designer Sissel Tolaas, food experience designers Bompas & Parr, and architect Diébédo Francis Kéré from Burkina Faso.

Five winners will receive a combi ticket to What Design Can Do, giving them access to both days of talks and workshops at What Design Can Do. Travel and accommodation are not included.

What Design Can Do is an annual gathering in Amsterdam organized for designers, by designers, about the social relevance of design. This is the fifth time that designers from all over the world and from all disciplines come together in Amsterdam to listen to inspiring speakers that include architect Ole Scheeren, furniture designers Campana Brothers, graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister, smell expert Sissel Tolaas, branding specialist Michael Johnson and star chef Alex Atala. Particular events on the programme zoom in on What Design Can Do for Politics and on What Design Can Do for the Senses. Also on the programme are a host of more intimate break-out sessions, an event at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and a week-long film festival featuring a design film every day.
