Design of Interactive Environments at Georgia Institute of Technology

The Design of Interactive Environments course at Georgia Institute of Technology prompts students to collaborate across design disciplines and create immersive environments.

In this course, students from multiple programme backgrounds – industrial design, architecture, computer science, computer engineering, HC, and digital media – learn to collaborate across their disciplinary departments to design and create immersive and meaningful experiences for audiences, guests and users.

The course covers various experience design methodologies and techniques for weaving together sensor-based technologies, digital content and physical forms.

Student teams apply these methods by designing and producing polished working prototypes for places where we live, work, play, shop, travel and gather.

The experience design approach focuses on influencing the emotions of the audience towards measurable, purpose-driven and inspired actions.

Working student prototypes are publicly demonstrated to fellow students, faculty and industry professionals at the School of Industrial Design's 'Launchpad Showcase' event at the end of the term.
