The Iceland University of the Arts offers an international two-year MA programme, MA Design and New Environments (MADNE), where students tackle rapid societal, technological and environmental changes through design.

The programme, taught in English, emphasises critical thinking, research, prototyping and the development of creative solutions to urgent challenges locally and globally.

– Rethink outdated systems, craft innovative solutions and tackle pressing global and local challenges through design
– Design thinking, systems thinking and contextual research
– Digital media, physical prototyping and video
– Theory is seamlessly integrated into the curriculum, informing practice and fostering critical inquiry

What are the requirements?

– Applicants will have completed BA/BS Degree or equivalent
– The programme welcomes applicants from different disciplinary and interdisciplinary backgrounds
– Proof of English Proficiency, references from two referees, curriculum vitae and portfolio of works

What facilities and resources are available?

– Home studio and access to workshops
– Prototyping lab, hackspace, bookbinding workshop, print workshop, wood workshop, metal workshop, video editing lab, photography lab and ceramic workshop
