Dessau Summer School of Architecture at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences
The Dessau Summer School of Architecture course at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences engages students in critical architecture discourse and design with a focus on the Bauhaus.
In 2025, Bauhaus Dessau will become 100 years old, and you can become part of it! 100 years ago, the Bauhaus moved from Weimar to Dessau-Roßlau, Germany. Exhibitions, artistic programmes, conferences and festivals are planned. The anniversary stretches between the arrival of the Bauhauslers in Dessau in 1925 and the opening of the Bauhaus building on 4 December 1926.
The Dessau Summer School of Architecture develops its thematic focus from the relevance of Bauhaus Dessau in the history of architecture.
Parts of the course are conducted within Bauhaus Dessau. Participants from different nations enter an architectural dialogue on a review of modernity in architecture.
Components of the programme place current developments in architecture and design in relation to the history of modernity and to its evidence on site.
We will research historic and contemporary examples of architectural building typologies that serve the purpose of cultural transfer.
Which role does architecture take in this context? How does materiality contribute to its details and its function? Shall we as designers anticipate a typical user behaviour within the design process, or does the user become an integral part of this process?
Participants will receive 12 ECTS for the six-week course. Please contact [email protected].
