MA Interior Design at Istituto Marangoni

The MA Interior Design course at Istituto Marangoni challenges students to develop innovative and ethical designs for luxury interiors.

The MA Interior Design programme places a strong emphasis on contemporary interior design practice, exploring a range of sectors including retail, residential, hospitality and exhibition environments.

Students engage with material innovation, waste reduction, renewable energy sources and environmentally responsible construction methods, as ethical and sustainable elements are taught within the course alongside new and innovative materials.

Through a balance of research and practice, students develop advanced skills in creative problem solving, materiality, and design innovation. Interior design expertise is refined and supported by technology, including CAD detailing, 3D modelling, 2D and 3D rendering, 3D-printing and AI applications.

Students are challenged to rethink existing design paradigms, with opportunities to explore concepts of luxury and regenerative design solutions. The programme also includes a dedicated Professional Development unit, enabling students to gain a placement opportunity to work within a company of their choice and gain invaluable first-hand industry experience.

Collaboration is central to the learning experience. Students benefit from mentorship with renowned designer Jay Osgerby and take part in live industry projects, including recent collaborations with Bulgari Hotel London.

Field trips to professional studio practices in London, alongside international networking opportunities, provide further industry engagement and exposure.

The programme culminates in a practice-based or theory-based dissertation, allowing students to investigate a key research area of contemporary value and global relevance in an ever-changing design landscape.
