Course: Master Product Design
Location: Lausanne, Switzerland
Course dates: September 2023 to June 2025
Application deadline: 3 April 2023

The Master Product Design programme at ECAL is for students wishing to focus on two fundamental aspects of a designer's practice, including personal research and the professional handling of commissions for clients, companies or producers.

As well as the steadily ongoing refinement of design research abilities and practical design skills, the students are confronted with the multifaceted realities of the design business.

This master's programme offers the tools to become a successful professional, teaching students production processes, concepts of efficiency and the value of design.

Supervised by renowned practitioners and theoreticians, the programme revolves around three basic pillars, including various personal projects developed by the student throughout the curriculum, assignments in cooperation with international companies leading to various productions, and exhibitions and publications in the international press and the drawing up of a master's thesis.

Students from this programme benefit from ECAL's exceptional resources in infrastructure and its unique network in the art and design fields.

Upon completion of this programme, students will have a portfolio of high professional standards and will have received additional training in fields such as photography and design law.

ECAL graduates are much sought after by international agencies, design studios and companies or launch their own businesses.

Since the beginning of 2019, students from this programme have been benefiting from a partnership with IMD Business School in Lausanne, a world leader in its field. This partnership allows them to learn about what is at stake when launching a brand and starting a business.
