Privacy Statement for registration and participation in the Dezeen x FSC Architecture Project Talks series
Thank you for registering for the Dezeen x FSC Architecture Project Talks series, which will be held on 3 November and 2 December 2021 ("Virtual Events"). We at FSC Global Development GmbH ("FSC GD") respect your privacy and want you to understand how we collect, use, and share personal data about you in compliance with applicable data protection laws in relation to the Virtual Events.
This Privacy Statement covers our data collection practices and describes your rights, for example to access, correct, or restrict our use of your personal data. Except where we provide you a link to a different privacy statement or reference to other privacy documentation, this Privacy Statement applies when you (Participant of the Virtual Events) register for the Virtual Events. This Privacy Statement describes the practices we follow as a result of your registration of the Virtual Events.
1. Data controllers and data processor
FSC Global Development GmbH, Adenauerallee 134, 53113 Bonn ("we" or "FSC") and Dezeen Limited (8 Orsman Road, London N1 5QJ, UK) are independent 'data controllers' of the personal data you provide under the Purpose of this Privacy Statement within the meaning of the data protection law and Zoom acts in a function of a "data processor" in performing the Purpose of this Privacy Statement.
2. Registration for the Virtual Events
By filling out this registration form (hereinafter "Form"), you are providing your personal data to the organizer of the Virtual Events.
We are not using your personal data for anything else beyond the organization and facilitation of the Virtual Events or other processing described in this Privacy Statement. If you have signed up to receive emails from FSC, then your email will be used to send updates related to news and events.
Failure to provide correct information may lead us to being unable to register you for the Event.
3. Audio/Video Recording of the Virtual Event
In order to facilitate the Virtual Events, Dezeen Limited will use the cloud-based video conferencing service Zoom. The processing of personal data shared between Dezeen Limited and Zoom is regulated in the data processing agreement. The privacy policy applicable to the use of Zoom, incl. the data that is being collected by Zoom, is available at: https://zoom.us/privacy. Dezeen Limited will share the Privacy Statement with the participants of the webinars.
The Virtual Events hosted by Zoom will be recorded (video, audio and chat history) and distributed to all the participants via email. The recording may be shared through social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). It will also be available on all these social media platforms as well as the YouTube channel of FSC.
Although you will join the webinar in a listen-only mode, any question or comment you post in the chatbox will also be recorded.
The audio/video recording of the Virtual Events will be stored on our servers in France and Germany for no longer than one (1) month after the Virtual Events.
4. Use of Your Personal Data
FSC and Dezeen Limited will use your personal information to process your registration, communicate with you the details of the upcoming Virtual Events, send reminders and obtain your feedback in regard to the Virtual Events. Our technical staff may use the log files for purposes of troubleshooting, and for providing help to end-users, if needed.
In detail, we use your personal data to enable you to participate in the Virtual Events, improve and update our services, communicate with you, secure against fraud and abuse, troubleshoot issues and as necessary for safety and integrity based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR). In addition, we use your personal data as is required by law (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c) GDPR).
5. What Personal Data We Collect
In order to organize and facilitate the Virtual Events, we may need to collect or store some personal data. The personal data we process can include the following:
- Full name (first name, middle name, last name)
- IP address
- Activity times
- Functional role (e.g. auditor, training provider, ASI, FSC International Staff, FSC Network Staff, CB staff etc.)
- Job title
- Type of organization you represent
- Organization`s name you represent
- Contact information (e.g. email address, phone number)
- Geographical location
- Personal notes or questions if provided by you
- Audio recordings
- Video messages
- Comments and questions posted in the chat history
6. How We Collect Your Personal Data
We process personal data provided to us directly by you when entering the information on the Form. You as a participant of the Virtual Event are responsible to provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information.
If the personal data you provided needs to be corrected, please, indicate the changes in the Form if possible or by sending us the email to [email protected].
7. Who We Share Your Personal Data With
We are going to share the list of participants with other registered participants of the Virtual Event. In case you do not want to be listed please indicate this to the organizers of the Virtual Event via appropriate channel. FSC might also share the list of participants strictly on a need-to-know basis within FSC Group, with related FSC Network Partners or relevant stakeholders. Within FSC GD, only those persons have access to your data who need it to perform their tasks within the scope of the purposes outlined in this Privacy Statement. Your information may be transferred throughout FSC and shared with third parties who will be providing facilities, entertainment or other services.
If the personal data that we collect from you needs to be transferred to, and processed by a processor based outside of the European Economic Area (EEA), we will take steps, such as including contractual clauses into our contracts with such processors or controllers, that would ensure that your personal data is safe and treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Statement. Other than that, we do not share the personal data with other third parties, unless described in this Privacy Statement or is required to do so by law.
8. How Long We Keep Your Personal Data
We will keep your personal data for 1 year following the date of the Virtual Events. Upon your request, we will provide you with information about the personal data we hold about you. Furthermore, upon request we will rectify or delete your personal data, as far as no statutory storage requirements apply. For details on your rights, please see the respective section below.
In any case, we store your personal data only as long as this is necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes described above or - in the case of consent - as long as you have not withdrawn your consent. In the event of an objection, we will delete your personal data unless their further processing is permitted under the relevant legal provisions.
9. Security
We are committed to ensuring the privacy of your personal data. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the personal data we collect online.
10. Your Rights
We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all your data protection rights. You are entitled to the following:
- The right to access enables you to receive information on whether we process your personal data as well as a copy of the personal data we process about you.
- The right to rectification enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate personal data we hold about you corrected, though we may need to verify the accuracy of the new personal data you provide to us.
- The right to erasure enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal data where there is not a good reason or legitimate interest for us to continue to process it.
- The right to revoke consent: If you have given your consent to the processing of your data, you can revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future. The lawfulness of the processing of your data until the revocation remains unaffected.
- The right to restrict processing enables you to ask us to suspend the processing of your personal data under specific circumstances.
- The right to data portability enables you to request that we provide you or a third party of your choosing with the personal data which you have provided to us (in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format).
- The right to object enables you to object to our processing of your personal data where we rely on our legitimate interest as legal basis. In some cases, we may demonstrate that we have compelling legitimate grounds to process your personal data which override your rights and freedoms.

11. Changes to our Privacy Statement
We reserve the right to unilaterally change this Privacy Statement from time to time to ensure that it complies with current legal requirements or to implement changes to our Services in the Privacy Statement, for example, when introducing new services.
In this case FSC will send a notification regarding any changes to your email address which is known to FSC.
