1. When you register to take part in the Samsung x Dezeen Ambient Mode Design Competition 2018
When you enter the Samsung x Dezeen Ambient Mode Design Competition 2018 we will collect the following personal data from you:

› Company name (if applicable)
› Postal address
(Further submission material as described in Article 2 of the Participation Terms and Conditions).

We collect these date to
› Identify you as a participant,
› Check the entered data for plausibility,
› Validate that you meet the Participation Terms and Conditions (e.g. we will use your date of birth to make sure that you are at least 18 years of age etc.),
› Contact and provide you with all relevant information on the competition,
› Contact you individually in case you are amongst the shortlisted candidates and/or Finalists (Telephone number), and
› For other administrative purposes (eg. we may transfer your data to third parties to issue an IFA ticket on your name and to arrange flight-/hotel reservations).

Your personal data are processed upon your inquiry and are necessary to enable you to partake in the Samsung x Dezeen Ambient Mode Design Competition 2018 (Article 6 par 1 subpar 1 lit b GDPR) and necessary for our legitimate interests to run the Samsung x Dezeen Ambient Mode Design Competition 2018 and develop our service offerings as well as to grow our business (Article 6 par 1 subpar 1 lit f GDPR).

2. After you have successfully registered in the Samsung x Dezeen Ambient Mode Design Competition 2018

When you have successfully registered to partake in the Samsung x Dezeen Ambient Mode Design Competition 2018 Dezeen and Cheil will disclose your name and submission material to
› Samsung VD Design Team (in Korea), and
› Cheil (in Germany)
› Other Jury members (located within the EEA)

for selection of the 15 (fifteen) shortlisted Entries (Article 2.6. of the Participation Terms & Conditions).

The processing is necessary under Article 6 para 1 subpar 1 lit b GDPR for the performance of the competition, namely to select and assign the shortlisted Entries and the Finalists as described in the Participation Terms & Conditions. We require all Jury members to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We do not allow them to use your personal data for their own or other purposes than laid down in the Participation Terms and Conditions only permit them to process your personal data for the specified purposes of judging the Entry and assigning the shortlisted Entries.

3. When your Entry has been shortlisted

When your entry has been shortlisted we will under Article 6 para 1 subpar 1 lit b GDPR and our legitimate interest under Aricle 6 para 1 subpar 1 lit f GDPR for the purposes of administering the Design Challenge and any associated marketing and promotion of the Samsung x Dezeen Ambient Mode Design Competition 2018 announce and publish your

› First and last name as well as
› Excerpts of submission on dezeen.com and Dezeen’s Social Media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) as well as on other publisher websites which communicate on the competition.

If you wish to not provide this information, we may consider your nomination invalid and we will without delay and irrevocably delete your data. In all other cases we will store the personal data you have provided for one year, unless we are legally or contractually obliged to extend the retention period in specific cases.
Your personal data will be removed from dezeen.com after one year.

4. When you are amongst the five Finalists

When you are among the five Finalists we will under Article 6 para 1 subpar 1 lit b GDPR and our legitimate interest under Aricle 6 para 1 subpar 1 lit f GDPR for the purposes of administering the Design Challenge and any associated marketing and promotion of the Samsung x Dezeen Ambient Mode Design Competition 2018 contact you for an interview by phone or Email and announce and publish your submitted personal data, eg.

› First and last name
› Portrait photos of you
› Making-of-video
› Interview
› Further bibliographical information on dezeen.com and Dezeen’s Social Media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) and during the Design Challenge campaign section of Samsung IFA as well as on other publisher websites which communicate on the competition.

If you wish to not provide this information, we may consider your nomination invalid and we will without delay and irrevocably delete your personal data. Transfer of personal data to third parties irrelevant with the Samsung x Dezeen Ambient Mode Design Competition 2018

We may disclose your personal data to third parties as described above for the purposes of the competition only. However personal data may furthermore be disclosed in specific cases, if

If you file an objection, we shall cease processing your personal data, unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
