Gantri's Tray Table Light

Tray table light by Silvon and Gantri

Dezeen Showroom: San Francisco-based lighting design studio Gantri is introducing the Tray table light, created in collaboration with lifestyle brand Silvon to promote better bedtime rituals.

The Tray light was designed to be useful even when switched off and to help avoid cluttered nightstands.

The light has pleated sides reminiscent of paper lanterns

It consists of a small tray to hold nighttime essentials, sat atop a cuboid light with a pleated profile that nods to traditional paper lanterns and emits a warm glow.

"Light quality has proven effects on mood, sleep habits and overall wellbeing," Silvon co-founder Alex Szpakowski said.

"We think bedroom lighting is equally important to our sleep as nice sheets. We wanted to create an innovative light that would become the centre of your bedtime ritual."

A built-in dimming switch can be used to change the brightness

The minimalist Tray light also has a built-in dimming switch, which enables it to change from a bright reading light to a more subdued, diffused light for winding down.

Like Gantri's other designs, the Tray table light is 3D printed from plant-based polymers in its California factory.
