Antwerp's "understated luxury" informs Anvers collection by CTO Lighting

Dezeen promotion: flat alabaster discs influenced by the minimal elegance of Belgian city Antwerp typify the latest range from British company CTO Lighting.

The Anvers collection takes its name and visual cues from the historic Flemish city, which is renowned for its "classical architecture and understated luxury" according to CTO Lighting.

CTO Lighting's Anvers collection pairs alabaster discs and minimal brass fixtures

"Inspired by the linear plains of the Flemish landscape, the Anvers collection embodies the low-lying profile of the terrain with its refined silhouette, whilst creating maximum impact through its exquisite disc of natural alabaster stone," said the brand.

Lighting in the collection is formed from circles of the translucent stone, which feature natural striations that create unique patterns when illuminated.

Satin brass and bronze finish options both complement the alabaster stone

Solid brass fixtures enclose the thin profiles, for mounting flush against walls or ceilings, while brass pendants allow users to specify the drop height.

Each disc is backlit by a fully dimmable, integrated LED source, providing a soft warm glow suitable for small and medium-sized residential and commercial spaces.

Three sizes are available, each of which can be placed individually, or grouped in lines or clusters to create dramatic compositions.

All variations come finished in a choice of satin brass or bronze – both complementing the neutral tones of the alabaster.

Alabaster is one of CTO Lighting's signature materials, and also features in the recently released Avalon collection of chandeliers.

The company was founded in 1998 by Chris and Clare Turner, who work with British craftspeople and premium materials to achieve their exacting standards.
