Dezeen Showroom: Japanese brand Time & Style aimed to create dining furniture with a bold presence when designing the Sculpture Casting Bronze table.
The Sculpture Casting Bronze table has a large base created by a metal casting technique that is traditionally used in Japan to sculpt Buddhist statues and objects.
Time & Style intended to keep this traditional craft alive by giving it a new application in the furniture industry, while also making a statement piece that carried the unmistakable look of metal.
"We aimed to bring to life a sculpture-like shape, which draws attention to the fact that its hollowed leg section is cast metal," said Time & Style.
The base holds a large elliptical oak tabletop that Time & Style designed to give "a soft impression" while enabling people to sit at a comfortable distance from each other.
The table comes in two sizes and the bronze base is available in a range of finish options, including a light satin finish or black stain.
