Dezeen Debate features Michael Kendrick Architects' "perfect" woodland retreat

Michael Kendrick Architects has finished a woodland retreat and holiday let named Looking Glass Lodge that features timber-clad facades and large windows that allow visitors to take in the views of the forest.

Architect Michael Kendrick was tasked with designing a low-impact and sustainable home that conserves and complements the surrounding environment.

"We designed the lodge to sit comfortably around the neighbouring trees and their roots, with particular consideration given to the ancient redwood that the living space looks out upon," said the studio.

Some readers were concerned about the possibility of bird strikes, with one worried that "this building will kill hundreds of birds annually". Others disagreed and championed the design, saying "bravo. This might be perfect".
