Dezeen Showroom: designer Patrick Jouin has created a collection of modular outdoor sofas characterised by colourful weather-resistant rope for Italian furniture brand Pedrali.
Called Reva Cocoon, the seating collection is made up of linear and corner modules, as well as chaise longues that feature backrests in two different heights with double curvature.
French designer Patrick Jouin created the seating frames from extruded aluminium, their legs from die-cast aluminium and the backrests from stainless steel.
Each module is wrapped in chunky bundles of colourful weather-resistant polypropylene rope, which was chosen for "a truly natural appearance," according to Pedrali.
The double-height backrests also provide a sense of privacy by enveloping the low-slung seating and nod to the collection's name, "cocoon".
This sense of immersion is also enhanced by the soft cushions that cover the seating, made with a polyurethane foam core and wrapped in waterproof fabric. These cushions come in rectangular, square or round shapes.
The Reva Cocoon collection is available in a range of frame and cushion colours – from white and beige to terracotta and anthracite grey.
"Born from the desire to create a flexible outdoor piece of furniture ensuring ultimate freedom of use, the collection is highly adaptable and configurable in a variety of ways to ensure maximum comfort and personalisation," said Pedrali.
"With its soft lines and generous sizes, Reva Cocoon – whose very name evokes a relaxing, dreamy ambience – is the natural evolution of the Reva Twist sofa," added the furniture brand, referring to its previous iteration of outdoor sofas.
"The result is a new concept of elegance marked by pure lines and a refined appearance."
