Dezeen Showroom: British company The Collective has released a modular ceiling system for workplaces that combines acoustic functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Collective RailLock was designed as an alternative to conventional workplace ceilings, which The Collective identified as being often overlooked when it comes to designing offices.
"While workplace interiors have become increasingly refined at eye level, many ceiling systems remain visually cluttered, overly technical or disconnected from the wider architectural language of a space," said The Collective.
"We developed RailLock in response, approaching acoustic ceilings as designed architectural surfaces rather than purely functional elements."
The system works in tandem with Collective PET – the company's premium acoustic material – and facilitates various pre-designed ceiling configurations across baffles, beams, grids and sails.
Collective RailLock forms part of The Collective Creates, the company's broader scheme to move towards integrated interior systems defined by the combined use of acoustics, material and colour.
