The Interior Design Environment Architectures course offers a revolutionary journey into interior architecture – a fusion of architecture and interior design. It embeds approaches of adaptation and re-use which are so important for the sustainability of cities.
It deals specifically with the design and redesign of existing spaces, working with existing structures in urban contexts. Students push the boundaries of how we can re-imagine environments, the creation of new interior spaces and a strong focus on re-use and spatial manipulation of existing buildings.
Adapting our existing buildings and rehabilitating structures for new uses and improved resilience to climate change, while addressing energy use, carbon and resource extraction and the need for more healthy and equitable ways of living, is key to the future of our cities.
This course is unique in the UK as an interior architecture course validated with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA Part 1).
There is an integrated foundation year option for this course.
