VPPR Architects has developed Idlewild Mews in London, United Kingdom.

Idlewild Mews is an affordable-rent housing development for Croydon Council located within a complex infill site where eight flats are contained within a multi-faceted building and its forms weave in and out in response to the narrow site.

The volumetric design ensures privacy for nearby residents while encapsulating a sense of community within the development.

"The characterful shape and materiality of the project provide a sense of identity for the homes and yet these are still clear references to the built landscape," said vPPR Architects.

This project has been longlisted in the housing project category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
