Olson Kundig has redeveloped 800 Fifth Avenue into a modern workplace in Seattle, United States.

As an existing office building located in Seattle's downtown core, 800 Fifth was built in 1981 for Seafirst Bank (later Bank of America) with oversized proportions to inspire a feeling of awe and intimidation.

The reimagining of 800 Fifth updates the role of the urban workplace by drawing on fundamental tenets of residential design – including access to natural daylight and dedicated outdoor space.

A sequence of insertions shapes flexible community gathering zones, transitioning seamlessly from interior to exterior.

This project has been longlisted in the workplace interior (large) category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
