Touchstone Interior Design has redesigned and redeveloped the Erya Villa in Guangzhou, China.

The Erya Villa was purchased by the owner – despite its outdated appearance and being over 20 years old – due to its peaceful environment and good orientation.

Through extensive communication with the owner and design verification, overall planning and design were made from the architecture to the interior space to the landscaped courtyard.

Combined with the owner's living needs, the space was re-inserted into functions, with close attention on the light, air and other factors.

"We managed to organically integrate environmental, functional and psychological needs to create an ideal residence for [the] owner that is comfortable, simple and relaxing," said Touchstone Interior Design.

As a result, the interior is dominated by the residential function and the exterior is dominated by the architecture, landscape and courtyard.

This project has been shortlisted in the residential project category of Dezeen Awards China 2023.
