At AUB, we understand architecture as being part of a larger creative story involving people, making, culture and the context of places within evolving landscapes. Indeed, architecture is an expression of society and can be read in the way we plan, construct, use, demolish and preserve it.
Whether you are from an arts or technical background, you’ll enjoy making physical models at various scales, critical thinking and drawing, and visualising in analogue and digital realities. The architecture degree will help you contribute to addressing the many essential challenges of our time; social, cultural, environmental and humanistic. Your architectural thinking will manifest creative work in the beautiful and distinctive conditions that our region presents: coastal, countryside and urban.
The complexity to be found in the communities and conurbations along the Dorset Jurassic Coast represents a unique opportunity for testing your most speculative ideas, to explore the immeasurable potential of architecture in a place where it is less likely to be found. Consequently, AUB’s regional study of architecture in the context of an arts university can be applied further afield in local, national and international contexts from the past to the present and the future.
