School: Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction
Course: Holcim Foundation Fellowship
Location: University College London, London, UK
Course dates: 21 July to 1 August 2025
Application deadline: 16 April 2025
This summer, the Holcim Foundation Fellowship offers a fully funded opportunity for final-year master's students and recent graduates in Europe. 15 selected participants will have a unique immersive experience in sustainable construction and resilience in the context of the European urban fabric.
The two-week in-person intensive fellowship will be hosted by UCL's department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering. The course will follow the theme of 'Innovating Tomorrow's Resilience', focusing on pioneering strategies to future-proof urban environments against climate and societal challenges.
15 selected participants will receive full tuition coverage, accommodation and travel assistance.
The course includes expert-led lectures and discussions on sustainable design and construction with leading firms in London such as AL_A, BDP, Buro Happold, Eckersley O'Callaghan and Expedition Engineering Ltd and site visits to innovative projects to provide hands-on learning experiences.
It is conducted with a collaborative learning model that engages with peers and industry leaders, to challenge conventional practices. Participants will showcase a final panel presentation where participants showcase research and insights.
The fellowship is open to students and graduates in architecture, urban design, civil engineering, real estate development and related fields. Applicants must be final year master's students (graduating by 31 October 2025) or recent master's graduates (graduated after 1 January 2023).
There will also be a second fellowship in Brussels (1 to 12 September 2025), hosted by ETH Zurich. Applicants should choose the program that best aligns with their interests and expertise. While they may apply to both, they can only participate in one.
Applications to this course have now closed.
