The Master of Arts in UX/UI Design and Development (one year) at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) is a future-focused, interdisciplinary program that prepares students to design intelligent, ethical and immersive user experiences across digital platforms. From web and mobile to spatial computing and XR, students learn to create accessible, inclusive and forward-thinking design solutions.

The curriculum blends creative strategy with technical fluency, embedding emerging technologies – such as AI automation, machine learning, computer vision and spatial computing – into every stage of the design process.

Students approach digital product development through a human-centred lens, mastering UX research, interaction design, UI systems, front-end workflows and experience prototyping.

Situated in New York City, the program offers studio-based learning with direct access to the tech and design industry.

Faculty bring real-world experience from companies like Meta, Google, IBM, HP, 8Paramount, The Met, Pentagram and Deloitte, and students collaborate with professionals through grants, sponsored projects, industry workshops and immersive design sprints.

Alumni have gone on to work at leading organisations including General Motors, Morgan Stanley, Dell, Blue Cross Blue Shield, eBay, PayPal, T-Mobile and the New York Philharmonic, applying their UX and product design skills across sectors such as healthcare, finance, consumer tech and the arts.

The program is closely aligned with NYIT's new Master of Science in Digital Product Design (one year), a complementary degree track focused on entrepreneurship and the development of AI-driven, emerging tech–integrated and physically interactive product ecosystems.

This program welcomes students from diverse creative, technical and business backgrounds. Both the MA and MS programs emphasise cross-disciplinary collaboration, industry-aligned innovation and future-ready design leadership.
