Flying in the City
MBRS Design and Research Studio has designed Flying in the City, an urban public art installation.
The 'Flying in the City' installation aims to invite spectators, amid their busy lives, to "slow down and engage in the experience, embracing the release of their true selves like the wind, like a bird soaring in the distance, or like a state of profound immersion," said MBRS.
Flying in the City is a set of urban public interactive installations composed of body and wings, designed to provide people with an immersive experience, while injecting vibrant dynamics into the surrounding local area.
"For children, flight might embody their unfettered dreams and wild imaginations; whereas for adults, it could signify the yearning for freedom. In the heart of every individual lies a distant horizon they aspire to fly towards," added MBRS.
As a result, this installation integrates considerations of interactivity, playfulness, mechanics and environmental sustainability, aiming to establish intricate connections between individuals and their inner selves with nature.
This project has been shortlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards China 2025.
