FOG Architecture has designed the interiors of the Lemaire Chengdu Taikoo Li Store, a retail interior project located in Chengdu, China.
The Lemaire store in Chengdu Taikoo Li takes domesticity as its design anchor, dissolving boundaries between interior and exterior to create a tranquil courtyard-like space amidst the bustling surroundings.

By employing locally sourced materials and intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, the design fosters a dialogue between local lifestyle and brand culture.

The design not only utilised tangible bamboo elements like bamboo-wood flooring and bamboo curtains, but also employed slender stone panels and textured surfaces on the facade to abstractly mimic the tactile quality of woven bamboo walls, creating an intangible reference to the material.

Beyond locally sourced materials, the project extensively incorporated Moroccan Bejmat tiles, a signature material of the brand.

Due to their resemblance to traditional Chinese blue bricks, the designers adopted a classic Chinese paving technique to harmonise with bamboo and other interior elements inspired by Chinese craftsmanship.

This project has been shortlisted in the retail interior category of Dezeen Awards China 2025.
