The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) hosts an online course guiding architects and construction professionals through conservation, helping build specialist knowledge and skills.
The course features six modules: RIBA conservation accreditation, history of conservation legislation and ICOMOS guidelines; philosophy and ethics, current legislation and policy and guidance; collecting evidence, understanding place, assessing significance, surveying and recording, assessing heritage impact, conservation and management plans, and funding; conservation in practice using case studies; quinquennial inspections, defects and causes of decay and approach to repair to lime and stone; defects and causes of decay and approach to repair to brick and timber; conservation structural engineering and conservation of concrete.
RIBA Conservation Course – Spring 2026 takes place online from 3 to 31 March 2026.
