Craft x Tech is an exhibition on display at London's V&A museum during the city's 2026 design festival, exploring the dynamic between traditional Japanese craft and contemporary technology.

The furniture and lighting showcase presents projects from artisans hailing from six prefectures in the Tokai region of Japan: Yohei Ito, Takanori Senda, Hiroyuki Murase, Shigeyuki Ando, Mayuki Kato and Tomoyuki Matsuda.

The craftspeople have collaborated with designers Bethan Laura Wood, David Caon, Atang Tshikare and Philippe Malouin, artist Eugene Kangawa and design studio Lanzavecchia + Wai to utilise woodworking, metalworking, ceramics, washi paper and textile techniques.

The exhibition is led by design studio Tangent and the Craft x Tech Tohoku Association, with curatorial direction by curator and historian Maria Cristina Didero.

Craft x Tech Tokai Project takes place from 12 September to 18 October 2026 at V&A Museum, The Daylit Gallery, Cromwell Road, London SW7 2RL, UK.
