Kili tables by Mario Ferrarini for Lapalma

Mario Ferrarini took inspiration from the gesture of turning to create Kili, a collection of versatile tables for contract environments, designed for Italian brand Lapalma.

Incorporating high tables, coffee tables and side tables, the Kili collection has as its distinctive feature a softly conical base, made by applying the turning technique to sheet metal instead of a solid form.

“The image guiding us was that of a form shaped by a single movement, as if the material were gently accompanied until reaching perfect balance,” said Ferrarini.

The process gives the base a characteristic form that gently resembles a volcano crater, while the adjoining stem in either powder-coated extruded aluminium or black or natural wood adds to a harmonious composition.

The structure is fixed with screws for easy assembly, disassembly and part replacement, and a number of different tabletop shapes and finishes are available for different needs.

“We worked to combine design, structural solidity and ease of use in a collection created to stand the test of time,” said Lapalma co-founder Romano Marcato.
