The BA (Hons) Textiles degree at the Arts University Bournemouth provides a blend of hands-on traditional skills and state-of-the-art textile techniques and technologies, for both new and future industries.

Our contemporary approach to the medium is supported by a dedicated staff team that provides a breadth of industry-focused knowledge.

We offer an intensive and creative design course that supports students with their emerging aspirations, providing a breadth of technical skills and the knowledge required to produce professional portfolios of work, including a growing awareness of current issues facing the discipline, such as sustainability and design longevity.

Our vision is to inspire and encourage mature autonomous and individual designers working with colour, design, materials, processes, pattern and fabrication methods through the exploration and reflection of personal practice, enabling the individual to position themselves at the forefront of the creative textile industry globally.

We support learners in experimental and commercial engagement by collaborating with industry, through the exploration of both usual and unusual materials, and through applying this invention outward to the fashion, interiors and CFM industries.

We promote printed and digital textiles, mixed-media textiles, stitch embroidery and constructed textiles throughout the three years.
