The Product Design BA (Hons) course at Sheffield Hallam University teaches students to challenge convention and embrace creative risk in the pursuit of new and exciting sustainable products, services and experiences.

Now more than ever, the world needs creative minds that are motivated by opportunities for positive change. BA Product Design nurtures the planet-centred and globally-engaged spirit of the next generation of designers and prepares them for an exciting creative career.

Our graduates are globally-minded designers, equipped to identify and respond empathetically, sustainably and collaboratively to creative opportunities.

Our students seek inspiration through exploring materiality and the opportunity to minimise waste through material reuse.

They explore the feasible and the conceptual, the highly technical to the hand-made, from products to product service systems.

In collaboration with their peers, subject-specialist academics and industry contacts, they learn how to identify and respond to future needs and opportunities using industry-standard design strategies and digital technologies.

As designers, our graduates navigate imagined futures informed by data trends and signals of change to disrupt accepted conventions. They identify rich user insights and respond by developing product and service solutions to complex health, environmental and social issues.

On this course, you will learn the skills, techniques and approaches you need to become a professional product designer.

You will develop real-world experience working on live projects with global brands and benefit from exceptional connections with relevant industry and professional networks.

We have exceptional links with a fast-moving and constantly developing industry, offering students opportunities for visits, placements, internships and live projects throughout their course.

Applications to this course have now closed.
