Visual Game and Media Design at the Royal Danish Academy

The Visual Game and Media Design course at the Royal Danish Academy supports students in developing skills in game design and motion graphics, with opportunities to work on projects with industry professionals and peers at local schools in Denmark.

Visual Game and Media Design is an intensive two-year programme for students ready to dive into the creative world of game design, visual media, visual experiences and playful interactions.

You will blend hands-on work in digital games, animations, motion graphics and visual design with cutting-edge approaches to game and story world design.

Students learn how to generate bold game ideas, immersive worlds, develop creative processes and explore business models. All this in collaboration with clients and users across the visual industries.

During the programme, you will continually combine the hands-on creation of digital games, animations, motion graphics and visual designs with innovative conceptual approaches to game design and storyworld design.

The Royal Danish Academy is leading in Scandinavia in the fields of architecture, design and conservation. It is located centrally in Copenhagen. Copenhagen is a hub for video game development, with a vibrant English-language game development community and home to both small and large companies such as SYBO games, IO Interactive and Unity3D.

Students also have the option of working a full semester with a large multidisciplinary team to create a game – or visual media production with students from other schools in the DADIU collaboration, or to work on a film project with students from the National Film School of Denmark.
