Events and institutions affected by coronavirus

The coronavirus outbreak has caused dozens of architecture and design events scheduled for 2020 to be postponed or cancelled. A number of cultural institutions have also closed temporarily. We'll keep this list updated as we hear about affected events. Europe

3daysofdesign: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 14 to 16 May, the event has been postponed until 3-5 September.

And& festival: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 6 to 9 May 2020, the event has been postponed until 21-24 April 2021.

Acrhitect@work Milan: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 4 to 5 November 2020, the event has been cancelled. 

Architecture Matters: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 26 to 27 March, the festival has been postponed until 29-30 October.

Biennale Interieur: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 22 to 26 October, the biennale has been postponed until 2021.

Brighton Design Show: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 2 to 5 April 2020, the event has been postponed until 8-11 April 2021.

Berlin Design Week: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 30 April to 10 May, the event has been cancelled.

CANactions International Architecture Festival: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to take place from 15 to 16 May 2020, the event has been postponed until 2021.

Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 22 to 26 June, the event has been cancelled.

Cersaie: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 28 September to 2 October, the event has been postponed until 9-13 November.

Clerkenwell Design Week: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to take place from 19 to 21 May, the event has been postponed until 2021.

Concéntrico: postponed. The Logroño Architecture and Design Festival was originally scheduled to take place from 29 April to 3 May. The event has been postponed until 3-6 September.

Context as Device Conference: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place on 27 March, the event has been postponed with new dates to be announced.

Copenhagen Architecture Festival: changed to new format. Scandinavia's largest annual architecture festival was originally scheduled to take place from 23 April to 3 May. The festival's program will instead be spread across three separate time periods during the year, with the first of these events taking place online in April.

DBA Design Effectiveness Awards: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place on 5 May, the event has been cancelled.

Design London: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to take place from 16 to 19 September 2020, the event has been postponed until 22-25 September 2021.

Design Miami/Basel: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 16 to 21 June, the event has been cancelled.

Design Month Graz: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 8 May to 7 June, the event has been cancelled.

DesignMarch: postponed. Iceland's annual design festival was originally scheduled to take place from 8 to 13 March. The festival has been postponed until 24-28 June.

Design Parade Hyères: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place 6 to 7 June, the event has been postponed until 2021.

Design Parade Toulon: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place 25 to 28 June, the event has been postponed until 2021.

EDIT Napoli: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 5 to 7 June, the event has been postponed until 16-18 October.

Fabricate: cancelled. The digital fabrication focused conference was originally scheduled from 2 to 4 April. The event will now take place online from 9 to 12 September.

Forward Festival Vienna: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 16 t0 17 April, the event has been postponed until 8-9 October.

Frieze London: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 8 May to 10 October, the event has been cancelled.

Grand Designs Live: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 2 to 10 May, the event has been postponed until 22-31 August.

Geneva Motor Show: cancelled. The annual auto exhibition was originally scheduled to take place from 7 to 17 March. The event has been cancelled.

Habitare: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place in September, the event has been postponed until 15-19 September 2021.

Helsinki Biennial: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to open on 12 June 2020, the event has been postponed until 12 June – 26 September 2021.

HIX: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to open from 19 to 20 November 2020, the event has been postponed until 18-19 November 2021.

iF Design Award Ceremony and Exhibition: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place on May 3, the events have been cancelled.

LANDSCAPE show: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to take place from 22 to 23 September 2020, the event has been postponed until Spring 2021.

Light + Building: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place in Frankfurt from 8 to 13 March, the fair has been cancelled, and will be rescheduled to 2022.

London Design Fair: postponed until 20212. Originally scheduled to take place from 17 to 20 September, 2020, the event has been postponed until 20212, with new dates to be announced.

Łódź Design Festival: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 15 to 24 May, the event has been postponed until September.

London Craft Week: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 27 April to 3 May, the event has been postponed until 30 September – 8 October.

London Festival of Architecture: postponed, with new digital version. The world's largest architecture festival was scheduled to take place from 1 to 30 June. A digital version will take place online in June, while the public events program has been postponed until later in the year.

Maison&Objet: to take place online. Originally scheduled to take place from 4 to 8 September, the festival will now take place online from 4-18 September.

MIPIM: cancelled. The four-day real estate festival in Cannes was originally scheduled to take place from 10 to 13 March. The main event has been cancelled, instead transforming into a two day gathering of industry leaders in Paris and a new virtual experience available year-round, MIPIM Connect.

Moscow Urban Forum: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to take place from 2 to 5 July 2020, the 10th edition of the forum has been postponed until July 1–4 2021.

New Designers Part 1: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 1 to 4 July, the event has been cancelled.

Norman Foster Foundations' Forum "Future is Now": cancelled. Addressing the most pressing current issues in architecture and design, the forum was scheduled to take place in Madrid on 1 June. The event has been cancelled.

OFFF Barcelona: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 to 26 September 2020, the event has been postponed until 6-8 May 2021.

ORGATEC: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 27 to 31 October, the event has been cancelled.

PAD Paris: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 1 to 5 April, the fair has been postponed until 7-11 April 2021.

Prague Design Week: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 1 to 5 April, the event has been postponed with new dates to be announced.

Romanian Design Week: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 15 to 24 May, the event has been postponed with new dates to be announced.

Salone del Mobile: postponed. The world's largest and most important furniture fair was originally scheduled to take place from 21 to 26 April 2020. This year's edition has been suspended until 13-18 April 2021.

Schloß Hollenegg for Design: to take place online. Scheduled to take place from 9 to 31 May, the exhibition will be accessible online.

SESAM 2020 Poliklinka: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 28 May to 7 June, the summit has been postponed until until May 2021.

Southern Sweden Design Days: postponed until 2021. The first edition of this four-day design festival was originally scheduled to take place from 7 to 10 May 2020. The event has been postponed until May 2021.

Tallinn Architecture Biennale: postponed until 2022. Originally scheduled to take place from September to November 2021, the biennale has been postponed until 2022.

Total Chaos: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 29 to 31 May, the event has been cancelled.

Venice Architecture Biennale: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to take place from 23 May to 29 November 2020, the biennale has been postponed until 22 May to 21 November 2021.

Warsaw Home: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 30 September to 3 October, the event has been postponed until 26-29 November.

What's Next: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 19 to 20 March, the event has been cancelled.

Zagreb Design Week: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 19 to 24 May, ZGDW has been postponed until 1-6 September.

North America

AIA Conference on Architecture: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 14 to 16 May, the American Institute of Architects' annual conference has been cancelled.

AIGA Design Conference: postponed. Hosted by the professional association of design, the conference was originally scheduled to take place from 30 March to 1 April. The event has been postponed until 12-14 November.

Architectural Digest Design Show: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 19 to 22 March, the show has been cancelled.

Architect@Work Canada: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to take place from 1 to 2 April, the event has been postponed until 28-29 April 2021.

Atlanta Design Festival: postponed. Originally scheduled from May 30 to June 11, the festival has been postponed until 12-20 September.

Collision: to continue as virtual event. Scheduled to take place from 22 to 25 June in Toronto, the conference will now take place online as 'Collision from Home'.

Design Pavilion: postponed. Held during NYCxDesign, the pavilion's programme of talks, installations and markets was originally scheduled to take place from 12 to 20 May. The event has been postponed until October.

Frieze New York: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 7 to 10 May, the event has been cancelled.

Habitat Expo: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 28 to 30 May, the event has been postponed until 5-7 November.

HD Expo + Conference: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 5 to 7 May, the event has been cancelled.

International Contemporary Furniture Fair: cancelled. The ICFF was originally scheduled to take place from 17 to 20 May. The event has been cancelled.

International Design Conference: to take place online. Originally scheduled to take place from 14 to 16 September, the conference will now take place from 14 to 18 September as a virtual event.

LA Design Festival: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 17 to 21 June, the event has been postponed until September.

Mexico Design Fair: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place on 1 April, the event has been postponed until Summer 2020.

NeoCon: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 8 to 10 June, the event has been cancelled.

New York International Auto Show: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 10 to 19 April , the event has been cancelled.

NYCxDesign: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 12 to 20 May, the event has been postponed until October. The awards ceremony will be held virtually in May.

Object & Thing: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 7 to 10 May, the event has been postponed until 13-15 November.

Ryerson School of Interior Design's Year End Show: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 30 April to 3 May. The event has been cancelled.

Salon Art+Design: cancelled. Originally scheduled to take place from 19 to 23 November, the event has been cancelled.

San Francisco Design Week: to take place online. Scheduled to take place from 16 to 25 June, the festival will take place online.

SXSW: cancelled. South by Southwest, a programme of technology-focused conferences, festivals, exhibitions and awards, was originally scheduled to take place from 13 to 22 March in Austin. The event has been cancelled.

TED 2020: postponed. The five day series of talks encompassing technology, entertainment and design, was originally scheduled to take place from 20 to 24 April in Vancouver. The conference will instead take place as an eight-week virtual event from May 18 to July 10.

WantedDesign Brooklyn: cancelled. The sister event to NYCxDesign was originally scheduled to take place from 14 to 18 May. The event has been cancelled.

WantedDesign Manhattan: cancelled. The sister event to NYCxDesign was originally scheduled to take place from 17 to 20 May. The event has been cancelled.

What Design Can Do: cancelled. WDCD was originally scheduled to take place from 7 to 8 May. The 2020 event has been cancelled.

WestEdge Design Fair: cancelled. Scheduled to take place from 20 to 25 October, the fair has now been cancelled.

Asia

Art Basel Hong Kong: cancelled. Originally due to take place from 19 to 21 March, the art fair has been cancelled.

Art Dubai: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to take place from 25 to 28 March 2020, the fair has been postponed until 17-20 March 2021.

Awaken: postponed 2021. Originally scheduled to take place place from 9 to 12 November, 2020, the conference has been postponed until 2021.

China International Furniture Fair: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 18 to 21 March, the fair has been postponed until 27-30 July.

Creative Expo Taiwan: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 17 to 26 April, the event has been postponed with new dates to be announced.

Design Shanghai: postponed. China's leading contemporary design fair was originally scheduled to take place from 12 to 15 March. It has been postponed until 26-29 November.

Festival of Design: cancelled. Originally due to take place from 12 to 15 March, the Shanghai architecture conference has been cancelled.

Gwangju Biennale: postponed until 2021. Originally due to take place from September 4 to November 29 2020, the 13th Gwangju Biennale has been postponed until February 26 to May 9 2021.

INDEX: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to take place from 14 to 16 September 2020, the event has been postponed until 31 May to 2 June 2021.

-ing Creative Festival: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 9 to 11 April, the event has been postponed with new dates to be announced.

Jerusalem Design Week: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 18 to 26 June 2020, the event has been postponed until further notice. 

SFERA 2020: BIOURBANISM: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 23 to 24 April, the fair has been postponed until September.

Shenzhen International Furniture Fair: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 19 to 22 March, the fair has been postponed until 20-23 August.

Singapore Interior Design Awards (SIDA) Gala Dinner 2020: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place on 15 June, the event has been postponed until 22 October.

WORKSPACE: postponed until 2021. Originally scheduled to take place from 14 to 16 September 2020, the event has been postponed until 31 May to 2 June 2021.

2020 National Architecture Conference: postponed. The Australian Institute of Architects' annual conference was originally scheduled from 7 to 9 May. The event has been postponed with new dates to be announced.

DENFAIR: to take place as virtual event. Originally scheduled to take place from 18 to 20 June, the event will now take place online from 20-26 July.

South America

27th World Congress of Architects – UIA2020RIO: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 19 to 23 July, 2020, the event has been postponed until 18-22 July, 2021.

Feria Materia: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 14 to 17 May, the event has been postponed with new dates to be announced.

SP-Arte 2020: postponed. Originally scheduled to take place from 1 to 5 April, the event has been postponed with new dates to be announced.
