Billed as "Supersalone", the world’s biggest annual furniture fair Salone del Mobile returns to Milan after the 2020 edition was cancelled due to coronavirus.
Salone del Mobile takes place from 5 to 10 September 2021.
It is the 60th edition of the renowned furniture fair, which was supposed to take place in April 2020, but was rescheduled twice and then cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Salone del Mobile takes place at the Fiera Milano exhibition facility, which is the largest exhibition centre in Europe.
This edition of Salone del Mobile is curated by architect Sefano Boeri.
He told Dezeen that the fair will "demonstrate that Milan is alive" after the setback of not being able to run the fair last year.
This year's Salone del Mobile is conceived as a large design library.
Boeri has said that the trade show’s traditional format of individual booths for brands will be replaced by displays arranged on vertical modular walls designed by architect Andrea Caputo.
For the first time in the fair's history, visitors will be able to buy exhibited products by scanning QR codes displayed on the walls.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the walls are made of materials that can be dismantled and reused to avoid waste.
The fair is open to trade and the general public from 10:00am to 7:00pm from Sunday 5 September to Thursday 9 September and from 10:00am to 4:00pm on Friday 10 September 2021.
Supersalone complies with the current health regulations set by the Italian government.
Tickets for Salone del Mobile cost €15 for a single-entrance day ticket and can only be bought online.
Salone del Mobile 2021 takes place from 5 to 10 September 2021 at Fiera Milano Strada Statale, Sempione, 28, Milan, Italy.
See you at the next edition in Milan from 5th to 10th April 2022.
