Japanese design lab Honoka showcases its Tatami ReFAB Project furniture collection at Salone del Mobile 2023.

The volunteer-led lab has created the project using a material made by mixing biodegradable resin and Igusa grass sourced from old Tatami mats. The material is then weaved using an ExtraBold 3D printer.

The project aims to "preserve the cultural significance of Tatami and reintroduce it to modern life".

Tatami ReFAB Project takes place from 18 to 23 April 2023 at Salone Satellite, Stand C02, Salone del Mobile, Fiera Milano, Strada Statale Sempione 28, 20017 Milan, Italy.
