Japanese design studio Medum has created the Light is Shadow installation for the 2026 iteration of Milan design week.

The installation is made from a single inorganic electroluminescent (EL) sheet, creating a dimly-lit glow that encourages visitors to celebrate darkness as well as light.

According to the studio, the piece is informed by Awai, a Japanese concept that outlines opposing states.

Light is Shadow by Medum takes place from 19 to 26 April 2026 at Back 12, Via Tortona 12, Milan, Italy.
