OLEDs Go! terms and conditions

1. General

The organiser of the competition is Dezeen Limited of 8 Orsman Road, London, N1 5QJ, United Kingdom ("Dezeen"). Dezeen is the world’s most popular architecture and design magazine and provides content related to the architecture, interiors and design industries, as well as supplying recruitment advertising via its Dezeen Jobs website and organising the Dezeen Awards programme.

BY PARTICIPATING IN THE OLEDS GO! COMPETITION AND SUBMITTING YOUR DESIGN, THE DESIGNER AGREES TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS HEREIN.

2. The competition

2.1 Dezeen has partnered with LG to invite readers to submit creative designs featuring OLED displays to enrich people's changing lifestyles. Entrants are asked to design any product for any user or demographic around the world. Designs should aim to improve a lifestyle that is emerging or changing for any reason. Designs should incorporate small to medium OLED displays (between 27 and 55 inches diagonally) that provide new experiences and enhance people's changing lives. Designs should utilise the key benefits of OLED displays while being feasible to manufacture using LG Display's current technology.

3. How to enter

3.1 The competition will run from 11:00 GMT on 27 October 2021 (the "Opening Date") to 23:59 GMT on 20 December 2021 (the "Closing Date") inclusive.
3.2 All competition entries must be received by Dezeen by no later than 23:59 GMT on the Closing Date. All competition entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.
3.3 Enter the competition online by submitting to the online entry form available at www.dezeen.com/oledsgo-competition-entry-form by the Closing Date. No other method of submitting entries will be submitted.
3.4 Dezeen will not accept responsibility for competition entries that are incorrectly submitted regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result any equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.
3.5 By submitting a competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions. If you do not agree with any of the terms and conditions, do not take part.

4. Jury

4.1 A jury comprising authorised personnel from LG Display and Dezeen will judge the entries.
4.2 The decision of the jury will be final.

5. Eligibility

5.1 The competition is free to enter and all applicants over the age of 18 are invited to participate, regardless of whether they are professional designers and architects, non-designers, students or teams.
5.2 Entrants may submit more than one design, if they wish. However, entrants will need to fill out and submit a separate entry form for each design they submit.
5.3 Dezeen reserves the right to disqualify an entry if it becomes apparent that a submission is inaccurate or if Dezeen or the jury have any uncertainty about the integrity of the entry.
5.4 In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. Dezeen may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition.
5.5 Dezeen reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the prize competition.
5.6 Finalists may be asked to present their design in front of the jury, which could take place online or in a physical location and will be video and audio recorded. They must, therefore, be able to speak English well enough to clearly communicate their idea. Dezeen will provide flights and accommodation if the judging takes place in a physical location.

6. Submission requirements

6.1 Entrants must submit their entry via the form available at www.dezeen.com/oledsgo, together with the following information:

(a) The title of the design, which will appear on all communication and media coverage;
(b) A description of the design, including the concept, materials and any relevant features (maximum 300 words);
(c) A description explaining what changing lifestyle the object has been designed for, including details of the target audience, how the design will enhance their lifestyle and what kind of content they could use the product to display (maximum 300 words);
(d) An explanation of how and where to sell the design, and a proposed retail price in Euros (maximum 300 words);
(e) A lifestyle image depicting the object in use;
(f) Up to nine supporting images showcasing the design;
(g) Optionally, a video or animation showcasing the use of the design.

6.2 Any entrant that is selected as one of the top five Winners (defined below) will also be required to submit the following additional material:

(a) Images of a 3D model of the design from four different angles (PDF or JPG)
(b) 3D model of the design (3DM, OBJ, STEP or X_T)

7. The prizes

7.1 The following prizes will be awarded to the entrants of the top five designs (the "Winners"):
(a) €35,000 for the first-placed design;
(b) €20,000 for the second-placed design;
(c) €15,000 for the third-placed design;
(d) €10,000 for the fourth-placed design; and
(e) €8,000 for the fifth-placed design.
7.2 LG Display may, at its sole discretion, decide to commercialise a product based on any one of the top five winning designs. If more than 100,000 units of such commercialised product is sold worldwide within the first year of such product’s market launch, then LG Display will award $100,000 USD to the entrant who submitted such commercialised design.
7.3 The prizes are not negotiable or transferable.

8. Winner announcement

8.1 The five Winners of the competition will be announced on www.dezeen.com in June 2022 ("Announcement Date").
8.2 The decision of the judges nominated by Dezeen is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
8.3 Dezeen will contact the Winners personally as soon as practicable after the Announcement Date, using the telephone number or email address provided with the competition entry.

9. Claiming the prize

9.1 Dezeen will make all reasonable efforts to contact the Winners. If a Winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed their prize within 30 days of the Announcement Date, Dezeen reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant selected from the correct entries that were received before the Closing Date.
9.2 Dezeen does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the prize.

10. Limitation of liability

10.1 Insofar as is permitted by law, Dezeen, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the Winners or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of Dezeen, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

11. Ownership of competition entries and intellectual property rights

11.1 You agree that both Dezeen and LG Display may, but are not required to, make your entry available on websites of their choice and any other media, whether now known or invented in the future, and in connection with any publicity of the competition. You agree to grant both Dezeen and LG Display a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the competition entry and any accompanying materials, to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the competition entry and any accompanying materials for such purposes.
11.2 In the event that you are selected as one of the top five Winners and your design is chosen as one of the top five entries, you irrevocably and unconditionally agree to assign all of the intellectual property rights in and to your submitted design to LG Display and to take all such steps and sign such documents as may be necessary to perfect this assignment anywhere throughout the world (substantially in the form of the assignment set out here) for the considerations set out in these terms and conditions (including, without limitation, the prize and conditional incentives). You further agree to publicity surrounding the competition as valuable and sufficient consideration for the same.
11.3 You warrant to Dezeen and LG Display that the competition entry and accompanying materials do not in any way infringe upon or violate any contract with a third party or any third party’s rights (including, without limitation, their intellectual property rights) and you will keep Dezeen and LG Display indemnified against any third party claims that arise as a result of breach of this clause.
11.4 You agree to promptly execute and deliver such documents and perform such acts as may be required for the purpose of giving full effect to these terms and conditions and in particular clauses 11.1 and 11.2 above if so required.

12. Data protection and publicity

12.1 By uploading your entry at www.dezeen.com/oleds-go-competition-entry-form you agree that we will store the entry materials on our database for up to 12 months. Your data will be only accessed by Dezeen employees as well as the appointed judges.
12.2 Dezeen will only process your personal information as set out in the competition privacy notice, which is available at dezeen.com/oledsgo-competition-privacy-policy.

13. General

13.1 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, Dezeen may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
13.2 Dezeen reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
13.3 These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
13.4​ LG Display reserves the right to, in cooperation with Dezeen, change and/or amend the Terms & Conditions if necessary to achieve its purpose and/or the successful realization of the OLEDs Go! competition. Dezeen is required to inform entrants of any changes and/or amendments in the Participation Terms and Conditions promptly.
