Behind our sixth A-Zdvent calendar window is British architect Norman Foster. One of his most famous buildings is the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank Headquarters completed in 1986 (pictured) and his firm Foster + Partners this week revealed its collaboration with designer Thomas Heatherwick on a finance centre that is currently under construction in Shanghai.
Behind our fifth advent calendar window is Portuguese architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, who was awarded the 2011 Pritzker Prize and designed the red concrete museum dedicated to artist Paula Rego (pictured) in his home country.
British architect David Chipperfield is the fourth in our A-Zdvent calendar of architects. He was last year's director of the Venice Biennale and is best known for designing museums and galleries, inlcuding the Hepworth Wakefield in the UK (pictured).
In the third of our A-Zdvent calendar of architects, C is for Santiago Calatrava, whose projects include the Liège-Guillemins station in Belgium (pictured) and the Fourth Bridge on the Grand Canal in Venice.
In the second of our A-Zdvent calendar of architects, B is for Bjarke Ingels whose projects include the House 8 project (pictured), a power plant that doubles up as a ski slope and the Superkilen park in Copenhagen.
Our annual A-Zdvent calendar is back! In the days leading up to Christmas we'll be highlighting an architect for each letter of the alphabet. To start off with, A is for Adjaye. His projects include the Dirty House in east London (pictured) the Moscow School of Management and two libraries in Washington DC.
