French architect Edouard Francois has sent us images of the facade of the newly opened Fouquet’s Barrière, a hotel on the Champs Elysées in Paris that he has remodelled and extended.

The new element links two existing buildings and consists of an exact concrete replica of the facade of the old Fouquet’s hotel nearby.

Francois has punched rectangular glass windows into the facade wherever they are required.

LOFT Publications - Hi Tech (publish material request)
Dear friends,
I am writing to you from LOFT Publications, a publisher in Barcelona, Spain, specialized in books on architecture and design. You may well have collaborated with us in the past, or be familiar with titles such as Mini Houses, Great New Buildings, New York Architecture & Design and the ArchiPockets collection. We work on coeditions with clients on an international level that include HDI, Rockport, Page One, Rizzoli, Daab and TeNeues, who distribute the publications around the world in different languages.
As editor, I am now coordinating a new book titled Hi – Tec Architecture. It is a new title made up of architectural and interior design projects which feature works from all around the world related to the use of techniques and materials considered to be of “high technology: Façades using special glass (such as the Citroën Show Room by Manuele Gautrand), “intelligent buildings and/or interactive, futurist aesthetics, buildings with innovative ventilation systems, systems that offer protection from direct sunshine, new energies, car parks with automatic parking systems, intelligent materials new to construction, new architectural techniques, etc. Also in interiors: cookers and lights that react to voice commands or to integrated music channels, automated interior systems, etc.
We are bringing together projects in which the latest technical advances in architecture and interior design have been applied throughout the world.
I would be interested to know if you have undertaken any projects lately (from 2003 to this year) that you feel may be suitable for this title. If you were to agree to include a project in this publication, we would need the following material:
- High resolution photos, slides, scans or CD (300 dpi/25.5 cm)
- Descriptive text of the project (name, location, date …)
- Owner’s name and contact information.
Should you be interested in collaborating on this book, I would be most grateful if you contacted me as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
Alex Asensio
