Milan update: here is another young designer who showed at Salone Satellite in Milan last month - Danish textile designer Lene Toni Kjeld of Wall Decoration, who presented a new collection of wallpaper designs called Meta One.

Below is some text from Kjeld:

Wall Decoration – a wallpaper in transition

With a focus on patterns I have made a wallpaper range consisting of 8 pieces of wallpaper. By means of transition wallpaper I make it possible to combine 2 different repeat patterns. And this is what makes Wall Decoration a speciel collection.

By blending 2 patterns, or even more, you can decorate you home in a more individual way, and bring up different athmospheres. Specially in larger rooms there can be the need to divide the room into smaller areas. For example you can use these combined wallpaper patterns to divide – not physical but by atmosphere – an entrance area and a kithchen area.

It’s a new way of thinking wallpaper. The patterns are unique and they can be combined. This combination creates decorative soft transitions. But more than being an elegant decoration the collection can be used functional to make space within space.

The patterns themself contains fine and complex details. All this in contrast to the many minimalistic interiors I find today.

Also it’s a challenge to design wallpaper repeat patterns. On the wall every detail is exposed and therefore has to be thoroughly considered. Like the very old handdrawn wallcoverings. In all I find this collection, rather than being an ordinary wallpaper, it’s a wall decoration!

Wall Decoration is produced in Denmark in a traditional wallpaper factory with rotary print. To reserve the aesthetic and exclusive in the collection it’s a limited batch production.
The quality meets the highest standards for residental use.

Meta One

Meta One is a new collection consisting of border patterns. It takes it’s starting point from Wall Decoration with transition patterns. Instead of transforming into another pattern, Meta One transforms into a single colour paper.

Also this collection is very flexible in use: the patterns can be combined with each other but also with themselves. Further more it’s possible to use the borders either vertical or horisontal.

Wall Decoration and Meta One are produced in Denmark in a traditional wallpaper factory with rotary print. To reserve the aesthetic and exclusive in the collections it’s a limited batch productions. The quality meets the highest standards for residental use.

    hiya,
I am a student who is currently attending Cleveland College of Art and Design and I am really interested in your work and was wondering if it would be possible to send you a questionnaire to help with my studies in textile design as i am planning on basing my next A2 project on your style of work.
    Thank you for your time.
