Acclaimed British designer launches new brand at 100% Design London.
Matthew Hilton launches his own design brand including furniture and accessories at this year’s 100% Design London at Earls Court this September. Known to the design cognoscenti for over 20 years Matthew Hilton is one of Europe’s most respected furniture designers. With a reputation for designing high quality modern classics - Matthew Hilton will reinforce this ethos within his own brand.
Deftly creating his own range with his key ingredients: flexibility, durability and boundless good taste, Matthew Hilton has a passion for the practical whilst never losing sight of his own distinct style and unswerving attention to luxury detailing. As he explains “I love designing furniture – it is always a challenge to design something which is both durable and desirable".
Matthew Hilton will launch furniture for bedroom, dining room and reception areas using high quality solid woods, teak and paramara from managed forests; and leather upholstery in black and brown. Exclusively for the launch of the Matthew Hilton brand, he has collaborated with Laura Lees on an embroidered leather patchwork. Laura Lees is known for her flamboyant, graffiti-style re-invention of tapestry and embroidery for the 21st century fashion crowd.
Matthew Hilton works with many international companies including Ercol, Driade, Habitat, SCP, Authentics, CASE, Montina, Livit. He has won numerous awards and his work is in permanent collections at the V&A and the Design Museum, London. He has the distinction of having been awarded Royal Designer for Industry in 2004 in recognition of his contribution to the design industry.
