Designer Hella Jongerius will exhibit a collection of tables featuring giant animals at Galerie Kreo in Paris next week, alongside the Artificial Flowers in our previous story.

The collection will be a series of three tables including animals, made from a variety of materials and finishes.

Frog Table (above) is a solid, walnut wood table with a frog appearing to climb onto one corner. The frog is partly coated in blue, transparent enamel.

Turtle Coffee Table (below) is a small, multi-coloured coffee table in the shape of a turtle, with a resin fruit bowl on top if its shell.

The range also includes a small, leather-covered coffee table that incorporates a porcelain vase, called Snail Table.

The collection comprises a limited edition of eight numbered and signed pieces.

Called Natura Design Magistra, the exhibition also includes Jongerius’ Artifical Flowers (see our previous story). It will open this Saturday and continue until May 30th.

Sometimes designers some up with some of the most bizarre, impractical creations and insist that it’s all just “whimsical” … but in the case of the Frog Table I think it works. It make me smile. There’s a “storybook” quality to it that I really like.
The Turtle Coffee Table on the other hand, while imaginative, seems less practical. It’s less of a table and more of an elaborate platform for a bowl.

that is one cool frog.
It makes my day.

Very nice piece. Though I’d like to have seen it before the enamel.

i appreciate the designer for creating a piece which so contradicts our perception of the traditions of dinning…she has placed an ugly giant creature on a corner…but this ugliness is beautiful. i wish instead of keeping the 4 legs of the table, she would have removed one and replaced it with the frog’s leg. that way the two elements would have had a stronger connection.
the layering of the snail table is beautiful is terms of it’s materiality. the colors and patterns are crazy yet she balanced it quite well by the solid colored bowl and base

Is it design? Crap? An acid trip? Who cares, that frog just makes me happy.

“Designer Hella Jongerius will exhibit a collection of tables featuring giant animals at Galerie Kreo in Paris” …
I see some irony in this frog theme ,
Half painted is just trendy now…

i like the transparent paint but my brain isn’t wired up in a way that allows me to have an opinion about the frog. Just can’t say. This is just a piece that is healthy for discussion. like it or hate it. sometimes pieces like this need to be here.

Your false comment is like your thinking,.
I’m fluent in design but Starck is a bad english teacher , zorry.
I must say I did not like Hella ’s work but now she is one of my favorite dutch designers …a vase with holes for Ikea or a Polder sofa for Vitra as big as Holland …GREAT!!!!
