The Burj Khalifa by SOM is the current tallest building in the world at 828 metres but is set to be overtaken by the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah at over 1000 metres.

Love the new hotel complex in Mecca, it's so Vegas!
Mecca? It's in Jeddah… Maybe do some reading before you post such an ignorant comment.

maybe do some reading yourself before accusing someone of being ignorant
Vegas is way more tasteful
The Tokyo Sky Tree (634m) doesn't appear… Is it not considered as a building?
That's right, Tokyo Sky Tree is not considered a building, as less than 50% of its height is occupied by usable floor area. CTBUH has fairly detailed definitions on everything…
Not a building, a tower.
the irony this is one of the Islamic Signs of the Last Hour " barefoot, unclothed, beginning shepherds competing in the construction of tall buildings" This was mentioned by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) 1400 years ago!!!
What's the point of having a massive antenna spire on the top? A good hundred metres beyond usable floor space purely to break a new height record compared to the last "worlds tallest superskyscraper". That's like placing a toothpick in the end of your penis and saying ooh look it's 9 inches tall!
Didn't you just answer your own question? It's just to break a new height record and claim the title of world's tallest building. Also, I'm not sure what kind of penis you have, but it's probably not "tall". Long is more appropriate descriptor.
