Hidden Art in danger of closing

Dezeenwire:
UK design organisation Hidden Art is in danger of losing half its funding and may be forced to close. See press release below. Update 30/08/11: Hidden Art have announced they will close at the end of September 2011

We need your help to save Hidden Art!

After more than 20 years providing support to UK designer-makers, our future as an organisation is in doubt.

Due to the current financial climate, it is uncertain as to whether the London Development Agency will continue to fund any projects. The LDA provide 50% of our funding and have done since March 2001. Should we lose this funding and fail to find an alternative source by 17th January, Hidden Art will have to close. We feel that this will be disastrous for the UK designer-maker sector as a whole. You can find out why on our website, or take a look at our ’21 years of Hidden Art’ photo album to see what we’ve achieved over this time.

In order to increase our chances to secure funding the story needs to spread and be written about by key media both online and off-line.

If you care about the future of Hidden Art, and if we have given you support or helped you in the past, please take 5 minutes to do one of the following and help our cause:

  • Tell us how Hidden Art has helped you and your business, so we have stories and quotes to back up our funding case – you can post your message on our facebook page, or on this page of our website, or via email to [email protected]
  • Write about Hidden Art and the support you received on Twitter (and any other online media) using the hashtag #helphiddenart – we want the word to get round.
  • If you know of anyone that may be able to help us, whether that’s a funder or somebody in the media, let us know, and maybe facilitate an introduction. Forward this email to them or send your own email.

Lastly and importantly, products on the E-Shop will not be affected at present.

Thank you very much and we will keep you posted on developments.

There is more information on the HA website here. Please spread the word!
