This time last year Dezeen reported on the opening of a number of new museums around the world, including a transport museum with a zig-zagging roof designed by Zaha Hadid and a wave-shaped museum of the sea by Steven Holl.

We also featured an art museum inside a ruined castle (above), which readers felt was let down by an awkward entrance, and a museum of Basque history with walls designed to encourage the growth of moss. Meanwhile, Snøhetta had just revealed plans to double the size of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (below).

In New York, the second phase of elevated park the High Line opened (below) and was praised by our readers, most of whom were desperate to visit.

In other news, Konstantin Grcic revealed a collection of tables painted to look like Formula 1 cars, while our readers were busy discussing whether designing a conceptual aeroplane with a virtual golf course inside (below) was forward-thinking or a waste of time.
