One year ago...

One year ago readers had some funny things to say about the ring-shaped Apple Campus by Foster + Partners (above), which leads a string of circular and cylindrical designs.

In Spain, Corten steel towers that emerge from the lawn above an underground museum in Lugo (above) and two conical bridges made from ribbons of mesh designed to cross a river and park in Madrid (below) both proved popular.

A lidded wooden bowl that can be split into two and mounted either in or around corners of a room to provide shelving was created by Japanese studio Torafu Architects (below).

Meanwhile Paul Cocksedge melted down vinyl records to produce speakers for smartphones (below).

Finally, semi-circular perforated screens gave shoppers glimpses of garments on display in a Hong Kong outlet (below).
