Designjunction announces programme for London Design Festival 2018

Dezeen readers get 50 per cent off tickets to designjunction at London Design Festival

Dezeen promotion: designjunction is offering Dezeen readers a special 50 per cent discount on tickets to this year's event, taking place in a new location for London Design Festival next week.

Dezeen is media partner for designjunction 2018, which opens to the public from 20 to 23 September in three venues on London's South Bank: Oxo Tower Wharf, Doon Street and Riverside Walkway.

Tickets will be on sale at the door for £16, but Dezeen readers can purchase their tickets in advance for just £8 using the promotional code DEZ100.

For the duration of the event, which is now in its eight edition, the Oxo Tower and Bargehouse will host brand events, talks and exhibitions.

This year's programme of talks is themed #designevery and features a keynote from industrial designer Benjamin Hubert, founder of Layer.

It also includes panel discussions, with a particular focus on the crucial issues that the design industry faces, such as the transformation of community through development, the future of accessible cities, how drones will affect everyday life and climate change.

At Oxo Tower Wharf, leading design brand Vitra will present an installation titled The Original. About the power of good design. It will showcases the brand's classic and contemporary products, including the story of the Tip Ton chair by Baber and Osgerby.

Riverside Walkway will be host to a series of outdoor installations, including Mud Shell by French architect Stephanie Chaltiel, which presents a building system that can be customised depending on its location.

Chaltiel will be working with students from London's Architectural Association to construct a prototype structure coated in mud by drones.

Meanwhile, at the Doon Street venue, designjunction is teaming up with the RIBA to present a series of projects in support of the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, which was set up in memory of the teenager who had hoped to become an architect.

London-based architecture practice Squire and Partners will be creating a co-working space for people from all generations and background to meet and work together.

This year's event will also include a range of product launches, pop-up shops and talks. Exhibitors include brands such as Erik Joergensen, Northern and New Tendency, and designers including Emma Cerasulo and Alex Orso.
