The AHEAD Global Awards ceremony is the culmination of a two-year programme of events celebrating the best in hospitality design around the world. Watch the live-streamed ceremony on Dezeen via the video above.

The AHEAD Global Awards pitted the winning entries from two years of the award programme's regional events against each other to champion the strongest hotels from around the world.

The nominees comprised the winners of eight regional events, which took place in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East and Africa over the last two years.

Each nominee submitted a film to demonstrate why it is worthy of an AHEAD Global Award.

The winners were decided by aggregation of online public voting and the votes of the AHEAD Global Awards' judging panel, which convened prior to the ceremony on Monday 28 January to debate the merits of the finalists and cast their final votes.

The ceremony took place at both the Ham Yard Hotel in London and the Crosby Street Hotel in New York simultaneously at 9:00pm UK time (4:00pm New York time).
